....'98! Ok, I didn't even go on the trip where all that started, but I think of it just about every time I hear someone say "Spring Break" and it makes me think of my crazy college friends, so I'll claim it here :)
Catch-up. Yeah, I don't blog anymore. If I'm writing, its for class. Yippee. Reflections and study guides and research proposals and what not. School is going well this semester. Hectic as usual, but great. This semester I'm working with a 4 year old who has basic artic and language issues, nothing super interesting. Next week, I'll start seeing a woman in her mid 20s who is losing her hearing and wants to learn to lip read. Should be interesting considering my background and her hearing loss. I'll get to practice some counseling along the way, I think. My other clinic assignment is RtI. Response to Intervention is a prevention practice that's fairly new to the field. We go into an elementary school as a team and see kids who have residual speech errors (/r/ and /s/ in third grade) but no other problems. We do artic drill for seven minutes in rotation. It's challenging...a lot of "say "seed", good, now pull your tongue back and say it again, ok, remember to keep your tongue up by your back teeth and push the air straight out" OVER AND OVER, but it is pretty cool to help them go from "theed" or "sheed" to "seed".
Mike is doing well, business is still in business and at this point in the economy, that's what matters to us! His wrist is doing fine...he actually went out today to try some golf. He's not back yet, so I'm assuming that means it doesn't hurt! Stoke Row is still playing show at least once, usually twice a month. Their next big show is an ASPCA fundraiser at the National...eight bands and they are the closer. They are also playing at the Monument Ave 10k, which kind of launches them into Richmond local celebrity status (IMHO) HA.
We're still really enjoying our new church. We have both gotten involved in life groups and Mike started playing in the band. It's just a great community.
Families are good on all sides! We've been away from NC for almost two months now. That's a LONG time. I can't wait to get back and see people...we head down to Greensboro to throw a shower for Kristin and Duker on the 19th. Then life should be slow-ish until May, when the travel gets nuts. Weddings and graduations and weddings and WEDDINGS :) I kinda grumble about the amount of money and time it's gonna take, (I'm just being honest!) but I'm so very happy for my friends and family. Such blessings are always welcome!
